Mooseburger Helper - Primal Style

I see your grass fed beef and raise you 100% wild ruminant, Canadian Moose!

Mooseburger Helper - Rating 8 / 10

According to my sometimes fussy step-daughter "Surprisingly good!"

Inspired by an old favorate from my 375 pound days...

Dark, rich in flavor and nutrients including heme iron, and all the good stuff found in grass fed beef.
100% wild moose on a varied diet the way it should be!  Add in some butter while cooking.

  • 1 to 1.5 pounds of ground moose
  • 3 TBS butter
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups good quality cheddar
  • 1/3 cups cream cheese
  • 2 TBS of roasted garlic and onion spices
  • 2 TBS chili powder
  • Optional: Chopped onion
  • Optional:  Cauliflower, cooked, to act as noodles, chunk it up

Directions

  1. In skilet, brown moose burger in butter (and optional onion) on medium heat, keep it in largish chunks
  2. Add water, heavy cream, spices, on cauliflower if used  (If using cauliflower, use extra spices)
  3. Boil, covered, 10 more minutes
  4. Remove cover, stir, reduce until thicker
  5. Add in cheese and cream cheese
  6. Stir until thick and reduced
(Note, I did not actually add cauliflower so its only a guess how it would turn out)

Chunked tomatoes would have been a good addition.
